MOVIES SHOWING AT THE VAL VERDE VERTICAL MOVIE THEATER THIS WEEK!
There is nothing better then going to the movies. Unless it’s going to the only movie theater where the screen is a giant iPhone, set up vertically. The way movies were intended. We have some big premiers this week so make sure you get your seats. And a reminder that the VVVMT is now exclusively serving Fletchie’s New England Style Split Top Hot Dog!
-”Avatar: Fire And Ash” in IMAX AND 3-D WITH 4-D SEATS! (A reminder that the VVVMT does not provide 3-D glasses, the IMAX does not convert on our screens and all of our 4-D seats showed up broken and have not been fixed yet)
-A Triple feature of the movies that McDonald’s used to sell for 5 bucks when you bought a Quarter pounder with cheese in the 80’s. That’s right…the three disparate tastes of “Mr. Mom”, “Batteries not included*” and “Hoosiers”. Converted from the original VHS so you can see Dennis Hopper in all his drunk dad glory in everyone’s favorite Gene Hackman movie…”HOOSIERS”
-”The Running Man” it’s out of most of the theaters and we finally got it! This is of course not the ‘87 Schwarzenegger version OR the 2025 version. This is a iPhone recording of Val Verde Highs production of the stage version of “The Running Man”. A surprisingly accurate version of the original Richard Bachman novella. It’s dark as hell. BUT Glenn Powell does make a guest appearance. God that guy is in everything.
-The uncut version of the stark 1985 Soviet anti war film, “Come and See”. The brutalities of war have never felt realer, then when you see them on a giant vertical screen direct from YouTube so there are lots of commercials for HIM’s that will break up the anguish of war.

Geoff Garlock is a writer/musician/podcaster/holder of many buckets. His work has appeared on Adult Swim, IFC, MTV, SNL Weekend Update, Wondery, Revolver Magazine and many other places lost to the ages of time and the content gods.
Along with 108.9 The Hawk, Geoff currently does The Cannon Canon Podcast (where he talks about the films created by the Cannon Film Group), Docs Till Death (a podcast where he goes over punk documentaries), What's That From (a podcast where he remembers old comedy and talks about how it relates to his career and therapy..trust him it works) and Geoff also used to do a podcast called Worst Gig Ever (where he talked to comedians and musicians about how terrible it is to be a musician and a comedian).
If you do not know him from his comedy wares, you might know him from his musical wares. Geoff was the bass player in the
influential hardcore band Orchid and the bass player in maybe less influential but still liked by some Vice Recording Artists Panthers.
He also played guitar in the metal band Low Estate and bass in the hardcore band Ritual Mess. And piles of other new usually brutal music projects...except for his ambient records. Geoff contains multitudes.
But most days you can find Geoff with his wife and kid who are sitting with him on the couch watching movies and listening to him talk about Genesis too much.
