AOR Will Never Die

I grew up mindlessly listening to Top 40, AOR and the nation’s first morning zoo show before I discovered independent, listener-supported radio.
Everywhere you go there seems to be a hard rock FM station that hasn’t changed since the Seventies — or is at least a throwback — that caters to what seems to be infinitely-spawning, mullet-wearing, sleeveless-band-tee-owning, Camaro-driving lunkheads that this music was made for and back announced by deejays who are part archetype, part stereotype who are sometimes as indistinguishable from each other as the music they play is.
If you’ve ever ridiculed a deejay for saying “another commercial-free cruise” or “Tuesday twofer,” then you’re probably already in on the joke; 108.9 The Hawk is hilarious and holds up to multiple listenings.
